Glen Davis is stepping up for the Orlando Magic

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 11 April 2012 at 1:46 pm

26-year old PF/C Glen Davis is really stepping up so far in April.  He has played in 6 games (all starts) for the Magic so far in April and he is averaging 35.6 minutes, 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.  The Magic have really been impressed with Davis’ play this month as he has really stepped up when they needed it due to injuries to Ryan Anderson and Dwight Howard.  Davis has played in 55 games (7 starts) overall this year and he is averaging 23.0 minutes, 8.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  Davis is going to be a big part of the Magic’s success or failure the rest of the way in 2011-12.

The Orlando Magic need Dwight Howard to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up by admin on Wednesday 11 April 2012 at 1:43 pm

26-year old center Dwight Howard needs to step up and keep his mouth shut!  Howard needs to quit picking fights with others in the organization including his head coach Stan Van Gundy.  If things are so bad for him in Orlando, he should have never signed his one year extension.  No one questions Howard’s play on the court as he has played in 54 games (all starts) for the Magic so far this year and he is averaging 38.3 minutes, 20.6 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.1 blocked shots per game.  With a focused and motivated Dwight Howard, the Magic are a NBA Championship contender, but if he sulks they could get knocked out in the first round.  It’s time for Howard to start acting his age and be a man.

UPDATE:  (4/14/2012) – The Magic are going to be without Dwight Howard for the rest of the regular season due to a herniated disc in his back.  He has been ordered to rest for the next 10-15 days.  The Magic hope the rest will do wonders, because they are not a serious threat to win an NBA Championship without him.

UPDATE: (4/20/2012) – Dwight Howard is set to have surgery on his lower back and he is going to miss the playoffs as he is done for the year.

The Magic are going to be without 33-year old small forward Hedo Turkoglu for the remainder of the 2011-12 regular season due to a facial fracture.  He is going to be ready to return for the playoffs.  Turkoglu played in 52 games (all starts) for the Magic this year and he averaged 31.2 minutes, 10.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.  31-year old Quentin Richardson will take over as the starting small forward the rest of the year for the Magic.  Richardson has played in 39 games (3 starts) for the Magic so far this year and he is averaging 17.3 minutes, 4.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  In his three starts so far this year, Richardson is averaging 25.2 minutes, 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.7 steals, but, the Magic are going to need him to step up as they need more offense than that out of the starting small forward the rest of the year.
