Jason Richardson has been stinking up the joint lately for the Orlando Magic

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Monday 2 April 2012 at 2:22 pm

31-year old shooting guard Jason Richardson is in a really deep slump.  In his last 9 games, Richardson is averaging only 6.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  He is only shooting 33.3% (25 of 75) from the floor in those 9 games.  He has played in 42 games (all starts) overall this year for the Magic and he is averaging 28.8 minutes, 11.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game.  His shooting  has been way off this year as he is only hitting 40.5% from the floor, 35.6% from three point range and 56.1% from the free throw line so far this year.  If Richardson doesn’t start to pick up the pace soon, Coach Van Gundy might start giving J.J. Redick more P.T.

The Orlando Magic continue to get nothing out of their rookies

Head Coach Stan Van Gundy has his eyes on winning an NBA Championship, so he has been going with the veterans on the Magic in 2011-12.  I can’t really blame him for not using his rookies much.  24-year old shooting guard DeAndre Liggins has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Magic so far this year and he is averaging 5.5 minutes, 1.5 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  23-year old power forward Justin Harper has only played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Magic so far this year and he is averaging 2.4 minutes, 0.0 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  21-year old center Daniel Orton missed all of last year due to injury and he has only played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Magic this year and he is averaging 2.6 minutes, 0.8 points and 0.2 rebounds per game.
