The Magic outrebounded the Cavaliers 61-35 last night on the way to a very easy home win.  Ryan Anderson led the way for the Magic last night with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 1 blocked shot in 30 minutes off the bench!  Dwight Howard was also a beast in this game with 20 points, 20 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots.  J.J. Redick (17 points), Brandon Bass (12 points) and Jason Richardson (12 points) also pitched in for the Magic last night.  The Magic are now 31-17 on the year.

Ryan Anderson is really stepping up for the Orlando Magic

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 31 January 2011 at 12:24 am

22-year old forward Ryan Anderson has really stepped up in January for the Magic.  He has played in 14 games in January so far and he is averaging 24.4 minutes, 14.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game.  Anderson is also hitting 42.9% from three point range this month hitting 42 of 98 shots from that range.  Anderson has now played in 29 games (4 starts) for the Magic so far this year and he is averaging 18.9 minutes, 10.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.  I see no reason on God’s Green Earth to cut Ryan Anderson’s P.T. any time soon as he has been on fire.

The new guys just have not given the Orlando Magic the needed jolt yet

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Monday 31 January 2011 at 12:22 am

The Magic were expecting an offensive jolt out of Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu but it just hasn’t worked out so far.  30-year old Jason Richardson has played in 21 games (all starts) for the Magic this year and he is averaging 34.5 minutes, 14.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.  The Magic were expecting Richardson to score around 20 points per game for them but he’s not even playing as well as Vince Carter was before the deal.  31-year old Hedo Turkoglu has been better than Richardson but he hasn’t been better than Rashard Lewis.  Turkoglu has played in 21 games (all starts) this time around for the Magic and he is averaging 34.4 minutes, 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  The Magic need Richardson and Turkoglu to start shooting more.  29-year old guard Gilbert Arenas has been a bust so far for the Magic.  He has played in 21 games (0 starts) for the Magic since coming over from the Wizards and he is averaging 21.8 minutes, 8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.  Agent Zero is only hitting 36.7% of his shots from the floor and 30.3% from three point range since coming over to the Magic.  The Magic really need Arenas to step up and play like he can.  23-year old power forward Earl Clark hasn’t gotten much of a chance to show what he can do quite yet.  He has played in 9 games (0 starts) since coming over to the Magic and he is averaging 8.1 minutes, 3.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  Hindsight is always 20/20, but I think the Magic would have been better off not to make those deals with the Wizards & Suns.

The Orlando Magic waive Jason Williams

Blogged under Big Magic News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 27 January 2011 at 12:03 am

The Orlando Magic have waived 35-year old point guard Jason Williams.  Williams played in 16 games (0 starts) for the Magic this year and he averaged 10.7 minutes, 2.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.  He only shot 34.2% from the floor this year and he decided that he didn’t want to travel with the team on the 2-game road trip they were about to embark on and that led to his release.  Williams played in 98 games (18 starts) in two years with the Magic and he averaged 19.1 minutes, 5.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.  The Magic won’t miss him at all as they have a lot of depth at point guard.

Orlando Magic 118, Houston Rockets 104

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Sunday 23 January 2011 at 7:39 pm

The Magic shot 52.9% from the floor while holding the Rockets to 38.9% shooting from the floor so it comes as no surprise that the Magic won in Houston last night.  Dwight Howard led the way for the Magic last night with 22 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots.  Hedo Turkoglu also had a very solid night with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocked shots.  Brandon Bass (18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots) and Jason Richardson (18 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist) also had good games for the Magic last night.  J.J. The Magic outrebounded the Raptors 60-44 and they held them to 35.4% from the floor which helps explain the final score.  Stan Van Gundy must have really fired up the troops at halftime as they outscored the Raptors 65-31 in the second half tonight.  Dwight Howard led the way for the Magic in this game with 31 points, 19 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot in 30 minutes on the floor!  Ryan Anderson was outstanding off the bench once again with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 1 steal in 26 minutes.  J.J. Redick (12 points) and Brandon Bass (10 points) also pitched in for the Magic tonight.  The Magic are now 28-15 on the year.
