J.J. Redick is finally making an impact for the Orlando Magic

Blogged under Big Magic News,Bloglockers,NBA Blogs,Steppin Up by Andrew on Thursday 5 November 2009 at 7:54 pm

Coming into this season the sharpshooting J.J. Redick had career averages of only 5.5 points, 0.9 assists, 1.3 rebounds, and only 13.4 minutes.  He also only shot 41% from the field and 38% from behind the arc.  Through the first five games of this season, Redick has really stepped his game up in all aspects.  Redick is getting a lot more minutes this year and is taking advantage of it.  He is averaging 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.  He has been lighting it up from behind the arc, shooting 52% (13-25) and has an all around field goal percentage of 45%.  Redick’s shooting can really spread the defense, opening things up for Vince Carter on the perimeter and Dwight Howard down low.  If Redick can play like this all season, the Magic will have another offensive weapon to rely on.

Ryan Anderson has been a pleasant surprise for the Orlando Magic this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 10:41 pm

Ryan Anderson was thought he be not much more than a throw in with Vince Carter in the big trade with the Nets over the summer. But, Anderson is really stepping up so far this season with Rashard Lewis out due to a suspension. Anderson has started the first 3 games of the year for the Magic and he is averaging 25.7 minutes, 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He is shooting 52.9% from the floor and 55% from three point range so far this season. The Magic are hoping that Anderson can keep this up until Lewis is ready to return to action.
