Orlando Magic 95, New Jersey Nets 85

The Orlando Magic won tonight with defense and rebounding. They held the Nets to 38.3% shooting from the floor and they outrebounded them 48-39 in this game. Dwight Howard was an absolute beast in the paint as he finished up with 20 points, 22 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. His line would have been better if he wasn’t 4 of 11 from the free throw line. Vince Carter was on his way to really blasting his old team before he had to leave the game with a sprained left ankle. He finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in only 15 minutes tonight. Ryan Anderson also had a solid game against his old team with 16 points in only 23 minutes. The Magic are now 2-0 on the season with this win.

The Magic had a very easy time in the season opener tonight in Orlando. They led 100-69 after three quarters and then they gave most of the regulars the rest of the night off. Dwight Howard led the way for the Magic tonight with 21 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots in only 29 minutes. Ryan Anderson started at power forward for the Magic and he finished up with 16 points and 5 rebounds in only 25 minutes on the court. Vince Carter’s debut for the Magic consisted of 15 points and 3 assists. Jason Williams was very solid off the bench for the Magic with 15 points and 5 assists in only 23 minutes. The Magic shot 55.6% from the floor and 55.2% from three point range in this game. They are now 1-0 on the season.

I have a feeling that adding Brandon Bass, Ryan Anderson, Vince Carter, Matt Barnes and Jason Williams is going to get the Magic to having around 60 wins this season. I know that number is a pretty big one to take the over on but I just like the quality depth throughout the roster on the Magic. Take the over as the Magic are built to succeed for the long haul this season.

The Orlando Magic release Morris Almond

The Magic have released shooting guard Morris Almond. Almond was caught in a numbers game with the Magic as too many players were ahead of him on the depth chart. He is still young enough to hook on with another team but the Magic won’t miss him at all.

The Orlando Magic lose Adonal Foyle

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Magic News, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 24 October 2009 at 7:19 am

The Magic have lost third string center Adonal Foyle indefinately due to knee surgery. This won’t be too big of a loss for the Magic as Foyle was going to have a hard time getting minutes this season. In fact, unless Dwight Howard or Marcin Gortat get injured he wasn’t going to likely even get 100 minutes this whole season.
