Tony Battie nearing return

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 20 February 2007 at 3:49 pm

Power Forward Tony Battie is nearing his return from an injured thumb.  It is not all the way healed yet but he’s going to try to tough it out.  The Magic really need him back because their depth has really took a big hit with the rash of injuries that have hit the team.  Battie is averaging 6.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season.

The Magic need to make a move to save their season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 20 February 2007 at 3:44 pm

The Orlando Magic need to make a move for a legit scorer to save their season.  They are sitting in the #7 slot in the Eastern Conference with a 27-26 mark and they’re only 1/2 a game ahead of the surging Miami Heat.  They are still in 2nd place in the Southeast Division of the Atlantic Conference and sit only 3.5 games behind the Wizards.  So, the Magic and Nets have been talking about Vince Carter and that’s exactly the kind of player the Magic need to take pressure off of Dwight Howard in the paint.  Hopefully the Magic can come up with an acceptable package for Carter and I have a feeling they will with young players all over their roster.  If they make a move, they will move up in the Eastern Conference….if they don’t they will have a hard time making the playoffs with the current roster.

The Magic shot 52.6% from the floor last night and that was a key in their victory last night.  Hedo Turkoglu led the way for the Magic with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.  Darko Milicic also had a great game with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.  Dwight Howard dominated the paint with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

Pat Garrity has been awful this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 13 February 2007 at 8:38 pm

Pat Garrity is playing so bad this season that it’s been hard for him to get off the bench.  Garrity has played in 21 games and he’s averaging 9.0 minutes, 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.  His best attribute in the past has been his shooting but he’s only hitting 34% of his shots from the floor this season.  The Magic could use his long range shooting if he ever gets his shooting eye back.

The Magic get beat 93-78 by the Nets in Orlando

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 11 February 2007 at 2:01 pm

The Magic had problems on offense last night and that’s why they lost.  Can’t blame Dwight Howard for the loss as he scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.  Darko Milicic got the start and had a good game with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
