Magic dominate the Wolves 109-98

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 12 November 2006 at 9:44 am

The Magic shot the ball well (50%) from the floor and out-rebounded the Wolves 46-28 last night.  But the real reason that the Magic won was that the bench pitched in with 52 points!  Jameer Nelson led the way with 23 points.  Dwight Howard was awesome last night with 21 points and 22 rebounds.  Darko Milicic led the bench brigade with 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Pat Garrity (11 points), Keyon Dooling (10 points) and Trevor Ariza (10 points & 5 rebounds) all contributed big games off of the bench for the Magic.

This was a great team effort and it moved the Magic to 4-3 on the season.

Magic beaten by Pacers 93-83

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 10:20 am

The Magic got pushed around by the Pacers and were out-rebounded by them 45-34.  Jameer Nelson led the team with 19 points & 6 assists.  Dwight Howard had a huge game with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks.  Grant Hill was solid again with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.  Hedo Turkoglu pitched in with 12 points.  Tony Battie was busy with 3 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots.

The Magic fell to 3-3 with this loss, but it’s hard to win when you get beaten that badly on the boards.

Orlando Magic improve to 3-2 with narrow victory over Sonics

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 8 November 2006 at 9:57 pm

Hedo Turkoglu made a shot with less than a second left to seal the 88-87 victory over the Sonics.  Turkoglu led the team with 18 points, including the most important 2 points.  Jameer Nelson was busy with 18 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.  Grant Hill had a solid game with 12 points & 5 rebounds.  Carlos Arroyo continued his fine play off of the bench with 10 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists.  Darko Milicic only played 15 minutes but he was very active.  Darko only scored 2 points, but he grabbed 6 rebounds, stole the ball twice and blocked 3 shots.

The Magic shot 54% from the floor which is great.  This was a huge win as it looked as if the Magic had blown a big lead, but Hedo Turkoglu saved the day.

The Magic hold off the Wizards and prevail 106-103

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 7 November 2006 at 3:47 pm

The Magic shot the ball real well, hitting 50.6% of their shots for the game.  The offense was really spread out well for the Magic, which was hard for the Wizards to defend.  Reserve point-guard Carlos Arroyo had another good game and led the team in scoring with 23 points.  Hedo Turkoglu added 18 points.  Keyon Dooling was a ball of energy in the 4th quarter and scored 15 points for the game.  Tony Battie (13 points) and Grant Hill (10 points) each pitched in on offense.  Dwight Howard only scored 7 points, but he grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 5 shots.

A nice win for the Magic to build on.

Power Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 6 November 2006 at 4:11 pm

Tony Battie will slide over from the center position and start at power forward.  Battie is a tough rebounder and defender, but his whole offensive game is mostly putbacks off of rebounds.  Battie has averaged 6.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 block per game in 22.9 minutes per game over his career.

Bo Outlaw will be the back-up.  Outlaw has been around a long time because he plays good defense and always hustles.  Outlaw has averaged 23.3 minutes per game over his career, and has scored 5.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.4 blocks per game.

Darko Milicic will also get some playing time at power forward this season.

Magic beaten by Hawks 95-82

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 6 November 2006 at 1:04 am

The Magic only scored 11 points in the first quarter and never recovered.  Carlos Arroyo had a fantastic game hitting all 9 of his shots from the floor and scoring 22 points.  Grant Hill was the #2 scorer for the Magic with 14 points and 5 rebounds.  Dwight Howard had a decent game with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Magic nipped by Sixers 105-103

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 2:11 am

Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to greatness.  The Magic just couldn’t stop Allen Iverson who scored 39 points including the game-winning shot with 2.2 seconds left in the game.  Grant Hill did his best, scoring 25 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists.  Hedo Turkoglu scored 15 points and snatched 9 rebounds.  Dwight Howard scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.  Jameer Nelson (14 points), Keyon Dooling (12 points) and Darko Milicic (11 points) all chipped in on the offensive side for the Magic.

It’s hard to believe the Magic lost a game in which they shot 53.4% from the field and out-rebounded their opponent 44-22, but they did.

The Magic blast the Bulls 109-94

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 2 November 2006 at 6:07 pm

Sure, the Bulls could have had a let-down after their huge road win over the Heat on Tuesday night, but the Magic made them play bad.  The Magic out-hustled the Bulls as they blocked 7 shots and stole the ball 7 times from the Bulls.  Dwight Howard was an absolute beast last night, scoring 27 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists and blocking two shots.  Jameer Nelson shot the ball well and scored 21 points.  Grant Hill added 19 points.

This was a huge win for the Magic, who look like they might be better than the experts think they will.

Shooting Guards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 2 November 2006 at 5:58 pm

Grant Hill will be the starting shooting guard for the Orlando Magic.  Hill is a very talented player that does a little bit of everything on the court.  Hill’s game is driving to the basket and creating shots for himself and others as he is a good passer.  Hill has averaged 20.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game for his career.  All Hill needs to do is stay healthy and he will help the Magic big-time, but that is easier said then done for Hill.

Keyon Dooling is a little ball of energy off the bench.  He likes to drive to the hole and he could play point guard in a pinch.  Dooling only has averaged 17.8 minutes per game on the court in his career, but he’s averaged 6.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Keith Bogans is back with the Magic.  Bogans is not a good shooter, but he is a scorer.  Bogans likes to drive to the basket to score.  Bogans has career averages of 9.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

JJ Redick was the first round pick of the Magic this season.  Redick is a good shooter, but their are questions about his ability to get his own shot off in the NBA.
