The Magic really played tough defense on Saturday night as they held the Bobcats to 39.7% shooting from the floor.

Dwight Howard had a monster game with 24 points & 21 rebounds.  Grant Hill had a decent game with 15 points.  Darko Milicic was awesome off the bench with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocked shots.

The Magic did what you’re supposed to do to bad teams at home……blast them!  The Magic have improved to 7-3 with this win.

The Magic shot 50% from the floor and out-rebounded the Nuggets 43-36 on their way to victory.  Keyon Dooling came off of the bench firing as he hit all 5 of his 3-pointers and scored 25 points.  Hedo Turkoglu continued his fine play with 18 points & 6 rebounds.  Grant Hill scored 15 points.  Carlos Arroyo had a fine game off the bench with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.  Dwight Howard was tough in the paint with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

This was a nice win over a quality opponent.  The Magic have now improved to 6-3 on the season.

Magic holds off the Celtics 92-89

The Magic out-rebounded the Celtics (43-34) and shot really well (53.5% from the floor) and those were two big reasons for their road victory last night.  The Magic also played great defense and held the Celtics to 38.3% shooting from the floor.  Jameer Nelson had a good game with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.  Dwight Howard was unstoppable in the paint with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots.  Grant Hill had a solid game scoring 18 points.  Trevor Ariza gave the Magic energy off of the bench with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

The Magic have moved to 5-3 on the season.

Centers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 13 November 2006 at 6:23 pm

The Magic is moving Dwight Howard from power forward to center, and he will dominate the paint even more at center than he did at power forward.  Last season, Howard averged 15.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.  The sky is the limit for Howard who is adding new tricks to his offensive arsenal and will only get better as a player, which should be scary to the rest of the NBA.  For his young career, Howard has averaged 13.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.

Darko Milicic will be the back-up center and he could really blossom this season with the added playing time he will get this year.  Milicic averaged 4.8 points & 2.7 rebounds last season.  Milicic is a tough player under the basket and he’s good in the open court.  He just never got the chance to prove how good he was with the Pistons.  Milicic has averaged 3.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game over his young career.

Small Forwards

Hedo Turkoglu will be looking to build on his good year last season with the Magic.  Last season Hedo averaged 14.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.  Turkoglu is a good shooter (38.8% career 3’s) that stretches the opposing defense.  For his career, Turkoglu has averaged 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Trevor Ariza will be the back-up for the Magic.  Ariza is a very athletic, open court type of player.  Ariza has averaged 5.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game over his career.
